Don't know if I'm elated or gassy, but i'm somewhere in that zone.

So I just got this email this morning which makes me 489324 times more excited. And I am leaving in 5 days!!

The sad part is that I haven't even packed yet...oop.

I feel like for clothes, last time I packed too much and I didn't even wear half of what I brought. And I have learned to bring pants, bad idea not to because surprisingly it gets cold in Florida haha.

I'm bringing my TV and a bunch of movies (Disney of course) and maybe a few others. We're staying at Vista this time so we're close to the learning center that provides movies anyways. I have a coffee maker because I am addicted and my laptop. But I don't think I need to really bring anything else down that I can't just get at Walmart.

I just am really nervous to where I am working this time. I sometimes wish that they would just put me back at Disney Quest just because I am more comfortable there because I already know what to do. But I also want a new experience and I want to know what it's like working the parks. I want the crazy. Probably the only person who would say that.

I mean I LOVE Magic Kingdom, but the hours there...don't even want to think about it. Animal Kingdom would also be good, I would love working Everest. Plus their hours are pretty good, they're open MAYBE til 9 at the latest. Hollywood studios I would love, I would want to work Voyage of the Little Mermaid OR Beauty and the Beast. I would hate Tower of Terror, I am literally terrified of that ride and I don't even want to go near it lol. And EPCOT, like Soarin' or or or Test Track would be fun

I JUST DON'T KNOW

ah man, I hope I get a cute costume though ;)

I also hope that I can pick up more random shifts, I did PAC already but I want to work at Fantasmic and hopefully stay seasonal so I can do the Halloween party. I am also going to be down there for Star Wars Weekend which I am excited about because I missed it last time.

I am honestly just as excited as I was the first time I went down there. I mean its Disney. Who WOULDN'T be excited. And not only Disney but there are other things that I want to be able to do. Like SeaWorld and Busch Gardens. Oh and can't forget Universal, I went last time and had so much fun!

Only I don't have a car this time and I can't drive *sigh* :(

But all in all I am super excited, and I can't wait to make some more wonderful memories!!

Picked the date!

So me and my roommate Cat (one of my roommates from last program!) are moving in January 8th, the first move-in day!

I am so excited, we get to be one of the first people there! And then we'll be leaving May 30th. I'm only going to extend if I get character performer or attendant. BUT I AM SO EXCITED.

I am totally going to make the best of this program. I will be taking the semester off, mainly so I can have days off to visit schools around the area to see if I would like to apply for them, considering the school I am going to now is just not working for me. I just feel uncomfortable there.

But guys, I'm going to Disney again.

Anyways, for living we want Vista. Mainly because its cheap. But the problem is like no one else does, it's been really hard trying to find roommates who actually want to live there.

So we're searching. But in my honest opinion. Yes Chatham was really nice, but I spent maybe like 10% of my program actually in my room so I don't really think it mattered. It was just convenient for housing events, like grocery bingo and graduation. Plus my classes were there. But yeah.

I'M SO EXCITED.

Have a Magical day! :)

ACCEPTED

GUYS, I WAS ACCEPTED

Attractions for spring 2014 :)

I am so beyond happy, and now I feel like i'll be able to pay attention and school and not worry if I've been accepted or not.

So I got attractions once again, and yes I really did was character attendant, but this time I requested Magic Kingdom or any one of the 4 parks really so I'm hoping i'm placed somewhere there! Also I got spring so I also have a chance to change my role if I want to extend!

Just so happy. Me and my roommate Cat from last year both got spring attractions, so thats awesome for both of us really!

Also I may possibly be going to the Hartford, CT audition, so many (crossing my fingers) maybe I could be a character performer :)

one can dream right?

ahhhh

Have a MAGICAL day guys!

Good things come for those who wait.

Just a short post but acceptances for DCP spring 2014 have started to come out

which is great, really. I have yet to get it, but i'm still being hopeful. They have a lot of people to get to, so I'm really trying to be as patient as I can.

At first it looked like the order was going by last names A, B, C, etc. But then people with the last names R, Z, and what not were getting accepted, so really I have no clue how or why. Looking through the acceptances, I see a lot of attractions, merchandise, and QSFB and maybe one of two BBB. I am hoping for Character Attendant so I can totally wait, if that ends up with me being that role.

I just feel like they should stick to this whole you will hear 2 weeks after, just because it sucks going from waiting 5 days to having to wait 2 weeks. I mean honestly it hasn't been that long but you know, if you love Disney that much, you really don't want to wait.

So i'm praying that i'm still in consideration :) Good luck to anyone else who applied and hasn't heard yet!

Still waiting...

So it's been 5 days since my phone interview and THANKFULLY I have not received a Pending or NLIC(not longer in consideration) email. And again I say no news is good news.

I guess I can talk about living in non-wellness and wellness apartments during your college program.

Wellness - Dry apartments, no alcohol
Non-wellness - allow alcohol for those over 21.

So if you know that you will be turning 21 before your program, it is good to think about this. Just remember NO ALCOHOL is permitted in wellness apartments even if you are 21 at the time. If you are turning 21 DURING your program, you must start out in wellness, and can change to non-wellness if you decide to do so.

while i'm here, I will provide some pictures of the apartments so you know what you may or may not be living in.

Chatham Square (lived here spring '13)

Patterson Court

Vista Way
and could find no pictures of the commons.

The Waiting Game and Looking for Housing

So once you have passed the WBI, had your phone interview, and received the, "we will let you know in 2-3 weeks", it is time to play the waiting game. (which I know sucks) Last year I believe I found out in 7 days, so it may or may not vary from what they told you.

Something I found really helpful in this period is figuring out where you want to live IF you are accepted into the program. Your options are Vista Way, Chatham Square, Patterson Court, and the Commons. During my last program I stayed in Chatham Square and absolutely loved it! Here I will give you a few pros and cons from what I experienced with the different living areas.

Chatham Square
Pros:
  1. Bus stop right out front
  2. Center for housing events
  3. Right next to Mickey's Retreat
  4. Graduation is held here
Cons:
  1. Not very close to any stores
  2. Sort of quiet (if you like to be social)
  3. not as new
  4. Not the cheapest to stay
Vista Way
Pros:
  1. This is a very social apartment complex
  2. Near to almost everything: Walgreens, Dollar Store, Dunks, etc.
  3. Cheapest complex to live in.
  4. Bus stop out front
  5. Movie Rental place is there
  6. Learning Center is there
Cons:
  1. Worst reputation of the 4 complexes
  2. Not nearly as nice rooms
  3. Not near the rest of the complexes
Patterson Court
Pros:
  1. Nicest Apartments
  2. I believe it is the newest built.
  3. Easiest complex to get around.
Cons:
  1. Most expensive
  2. No bus stop
I really don't know much about the Commons, but what I do know is the first housing meeting that we are required to go to is located in that complex. I hear the apartments are really nice and it has a bus stop right out front, but is more expensive to live in.

Phone Interview!

So today I had my phone interview, it was scheduled at 6:15, but I got the call at around 6:08 so a little earlier than scheduled, but I was ready! I was a little nervous, but I had already gone through this once so I knew more of what was going to be asked.

The first thing we talked about was my preference Disney World or Disneyland and spring or spring advantage. Once we did that she asked Why I wanted to do the Disney College Program again, then we talked about previous work experience and my top 3 roles for both Disney World and Disneyland. Once that she asked me questions about different roles that I picked.

Here's a few that I can think of

Basic
  • What previous jobs have you had?
  • Better working in teams or alone?
  • Name a time where you had to get something done in time with a lot of distractions.
  • Are you receptive to the Disney Look?
  • Any tattoos or piercings?
  • Can you work long periods of time indoors and outdoors?
  • How would you deal with a roommate situation?
Attractions
  • Are you comfortable with working on attractions with different heights?
  • If you were doing the same repetitive task over and over how would you pass the time?
  • Are you comfortable with working with electronic devices and mobile devices? (it was something like this)
Bibbity Boppity Boutique
  • Do you have any hair experience?
  • Are you comfortable with touching the kids hair/hands/face?
Character Attendent
  • Why do you want this role?
  • What would you say to guests if, for example Winnie the Pooh needed to take a break for 5 minutes?
There were other questions but these were basic questions that I remember being asked. A few other role questions (Main Entrance, custodial, and costuming). But not too many hard questions, basically how I would handle things.

any questions ask here

I've got a dream

Hello everyone my name is Emily and I'm blogging about my Disney College Program (hopefully) for spring 2014.

So this is my third time applying, and second program if I end up being accepted, I was accepted for Spring 2013 and was attractions at DisneyQuest at downtown Disney.

I've been seeing a lot of people freaking out about not getting e-mails and what not and I just want to say stay calm :)

So for me, I applied at around 10 a.m the 5th and got my "Thank You for Applying" e-mail at around 10:44 and then I waited around and recieved my Web Based Interview e-mail at 11:26. That took me about 15-20 minutes to complete just because I have done it before and didn't need much time. Once that I was finished, I had found out that I passed and made my phone interview for September 10th at 5p.m

IF you have no received your WBI e-mail, don't freak. As I've heard before, no news is good news. They would contact you if they were no longer interested. They're being overloaded with applications, so it may take some time.
